Career History

Jon Burdekin, Owner and Managing Director of Jon Burdekin Fleet Consulting Ltd has 27 years’ experience in the UK leasing and fleet finance industry, having previously worked for such major leasing companies as Alphabet GB Ltd and GE Capital Fleet Services. He is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Car Fleet Management (AICFM).

His 15 year career with Alphabet incorporated roles as Account Manager, Head of Account Management, Head of Consulting Services and Head of Product Management, with responsibility for managing teams in developing relationships with all key customers, as well as leading the consultancy division to add key value differentiation and technical innovation.

Employee Car Ownership Schemes

Jon has acquired a wealth of knowledge and experience during his time in the industry, specialising in the conceptual discussion, implementation, launch, communication and ongoing management of Employee Car Ownership schemes and other tax efficient alternatives to traditional company car funding.

His experience is built on real life management of, and direct responsibility for schemes for such organisations as BOC, BBC, Oracle, Yell, McDonald’s, BMW Group, Royal and Sun Alliance, British Engineering Services, MetsaWood, CLM, Royal London Mutual Assurance Society and Wesleyan Assurance.

Grey Fleet Management and Electric Vehicles

As well as becoming a subject matter expert in Employee Car Ownership, Jon has also acquired deep levels of knowledge in the application of Electric Vehicles, Grey Fleet Management and Project management (particularly scheme implementation)
Account Management Development

Jon’s experience in leading Account Management teams culminated in the development and roll out of ‘3D Account Management’ – a self-created blueprint covering all aspects of effective management. This programme helped all account managers under his responsibility to understand what outstanding Account Management looks like and created individual personal development plans for each team member to achieve.

With a robust measurement process in place through 121s, this ensured ongoing development of the team in all areas of account management. It even included a 56 question test to identify any gaps in their product knowledge!
Financial Product Knowledge

Jon is also experienced in delivering training in Financial Products, helping sales teams and customer service colleagues to understand clearly the difference between each financial product and where each product should be correctly applied – regularly achieving satisfaction results of 98% + from the delegates for the training.

Now established as an independent consultant, Jon can offer the benefits of his experience and knowledge to leasing companies, brokers, and clients running fleets of vehicles.
